As of 11.30am this morning, I have received S$17,618.12. I received the funds from 4 different sources, some from the man on the street. Thank you for your support. I am grateful.
Please see below the breakdown.
- POSB Savings Bank Account (130-23068-7): S$17,128.12
- PayPal (royngerng@gmail.com): S$140
- Passerby on the street: S$150
- Customer at dad’s carrot cake stall: S$200
(1) POSB Savings Bank Account 130-23068-7 (Ngerng Yi Ling): S$17,128.12
(2) PayPal (royngerng@gmail.com): S$140
(3) Passerby on the street: S$150
I was at Ang Mo Kio Hub yesterday afternoon. A nice lady recognised me and stopped me. She said that she supported what I did and asked me to take care of myself.
As she was leaving, she took out S$150 from her wallet and handed it to me. She told me that the money is from her family. I was very surprised and touched when she did that. Thank you, really.
She kept holding my hand and told me to stay strong. She also kept pressing the money into my hands and asked me to take care of myself.
To my friend, I am grateful for what you did. Thank you.
(4) Customer at my dad’s carrot cake stall: S$200
My dad will turn 66 this year. He sells carrot cake at Block 107 in Ang Mo Kio.
A customer of my dad’s came up to him and gave him S$200 to support the fund raising.
Thank you for your support. I am thankful.
(5) Special Thanks to my Facebook friends
I would especially like to thank my friends on Facebook who have been relentlessly writing and showing their support in various ways.
Thank you for sharing my news and letting others know of my situation and the funds needed. It is also because of your continued support and perseverance that allowed more funds to be raised.
Thank you for taking the time to post on Facebook, and to speak to others on Facebook.
Your support made me feel more comforted. Thank you.
In total, S$17,618.12 has been raised as of this morning.
I would be grateful if you would like to help to defray the costs. You can also fund raise to the bank account at POSB Savings Bank Account 130-23068-7 (Ngerng Yi Ling).
First Payment to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong: S$30,000
Yesterday, I made the first payment of S$30,000 (out of S$180,000) to the prime minister. That’s 16.7% of the amount and a lot more to go.
I went to the bank to get a cashier’s order as my bank account does not allow me to issue cheques. However, Drew & Napier reminded me that the agreement with the prime minister specifies that I am to pay by cheque.
Thankfully, Drew & Napier accepted the cashier’s order in place of the cheque.
I still have to pay another S$150,000 to the prime minister.
According to the terms, I was to pay S$30,000 yesterday. From April 1 onwards, I have to pay S$100 every month for the next 5 years. Thereafter, from 2021, I would be required to pay S$1,000 every month until I finish paying.
I would be grateful if you would like to help to defray the costs. You can also fund raise to the bank account at POSB Savings Bank Account 130-23068-7 (Ngerng Yi Ling).
I will continue to update on the funds raised and used on the blog.
Thank you, everyone.
Once again, thank you everyone for your support. A friend told me yesterday that many people continue to support because of my writings since 2012, and especially over what I had tried to do in the past 2 years.
Thank you.
I tried my best to write and speak up on the CPF and am glad some enhancements were made to the CPF, even as they are slight. It is a small step but at least it will benefit some of elderly Singaporeans, starting from this year.
I hope that things will get better for Singapore and her people. If you believe that you can make change, do propose solutions and write about them. When the ideas are taken, they will benefit our country as a whole. Thank you.
For now, I will need to focus on looking for a job, so that I can at least earn a living.
*****
Background: In 2014, I was sued by the Singapore prime minister for defamation. The judge ruled in a summary judgment that I have defamed him. I have apologised to the prime minister. I was ordered to pay damages of S$150,000 to him. In a settlement reached with the help of my lawyer Eugene Thuraisingam, I am to pay an additional S$30,000 in costs. In total, including the previous payment that I have made to the costs of the summary judgment (S$29,000) and application for the Queen’s Counsel (S$6,000), I would have paid/will pay S$215,000.
You can read the previous updates here: [One] [Two] [Three] [Four]
You can also read the previous update on the funds raised in 2014 and its usage. I would like to thank The Straits Times for reporting about it. There were also inaccurate online reports that the funds were used to pay overseas trips. This is untrue. You can read more about these in the update here.
Fight on , Roy! Shall visit your dad’s carrot cake one of these days with my wife
Thanks for the update. Will continue to support you.
Because of you, I am getting a few hundred dollars from my Cpf balance every year. Will transfer those extra income to you every year.
Cheers!
I suggest you report your plight to United Nations to help the fund raising worldwide.
